Its good to see a return of the Billiards League after an absence of a few years, the matches take place on 25th October and the first weeks fixtures are Hykeham B v Moorlands and Railway, Woodhall Spa have a Bye and Newark Con Club v Hykeham A

League leaders Lincoln Snooker Club A lost 2-5 at home to a good Woodhall Spa Con Club team. Daren Doughty and Neil Dowlman shared the opening two frames, Daren winning his frame with the help of a 45 break.

Nigel Salmon put the away side 2-1 up when he came from behind to beat Jamie Barker on the black winning 54-53. Matt Lee levelled the scores with a 81-55 win over Nigel. Chris Taylor secured a Con Club victory when he won both of his frames against Gavin Whittle, with the first frame being another black ball game. The final frame saw Neil defeat Matt 82-40. This win puts Woodhall Spa in second spot just two points behind their opponents and one point in front of the Newark Con Club.

Newark were beaten were beaten 5-2 away at Lincoln Snooker Club B, the Snooker Club side raced into a 3-0 lead which saw victories for Dave Norman, Rick Epton and Calum Baptist. Dave Jobling put the first frame on the board for the Con Club when he defeated Rick 50-13. But the home side hit back when Dave and Calum defeated Matt Bavin 55-44 and 72-36 respectively. Matt won his first frame on the night 54-15 against Rick.

Lincoln Snooker Club C recorded their best win of the season so far when they beat their E team 6-1. Simon Mower put the home team 2-0 up with wins over Steve Burnett, Steve then beat Chris Robinson 74-21 for the away sides lone point of the night. Chris then just got the better of Mark Taylor 59-50. Chris played Mark again and he also won that frame 44-15. The two remaining frames saw home team captain Lee Applewhite beat Carl Manning 2-0.

Moorlands and Railway A lost 3-4 at home to Lincoln Snooker Club D, Justin Hunt put the away team one up when he beat Tony Hicklin 59-44, but Sean Falkinder and Paul Froggatt took the next two frames for the home side against Phil Cross and Adam Hanson. Edward Taylor played very well to take the next two frames for the away side when he beat Sean 55-22 and then he defeated Tom Hutchinson 64-26. Edward recording a 30 break in one of the frames. The two remaining frames were shared with Justin beating Paul 60-15 and Tom beating Phil 89-8.

The leaders of the first Division Hykeham A also tasted defeat for the first time this season, Lincoln Snooker Club F inflicting a 5-1 score line. Gary Beardsley put Hykeham one up with a close 46-38 win over Mark Handford. Ben Rickards, George Barratt and Toby Andrews had comfortable wins. Ben made it 4-1 when he just got home 53-48 against the Cue Maker Dave Coutts. George completed the victory with the help of a 29 break against Dan May. Lincoln Snooker Club F remain the only unbeaten side in the LDBSA.

Castle Ward C collected maximum points at home to Lincoln Snooker Club G, Martin Key was in fine form compiling breaks of 32,29 and 28 in his two frames. Tristan Fussey and Craig Starbuck also with two wins apiece, Craig with a break of 28. This win as put them into joint second.

The youngsters from the two Lincoln Snooker Academy sides played each other, and the B team won their first match of the season 4-2.  Jack Lowe won a close encounter 44-35 against Oliver Bagnall.  Dan Sherman levelled the scores when he beat James Sawyer 62-23. Ady Lowe and Jazz Bailey restored the lead with victories over Oliver Bishell and Dan Sherman. Jazz coming from behind to steal the frame 56-51. Josh then made certain of his teams first win of the season with a 45-32 win over Oliver Bishell, James Lilley won the last frame of the night 54-42 against Joe Jackson.

Moorlands and Railway C remain winless so far this season, they went down 2-4 against Castle Ward B. They are a very experienced side and this should put them in good stead for the rest of the season. Their two points came from Andy Campbell and Andy Riggall. The Wards winners were Ken Hill, Matt Strickson and Kev Cottam, Kev with a break of 29 against Phil Barnett.

The Cube & Triangle drew 3-3 away at Castle Ward A, Rob Reeves and Tim Dunn put the home side 2-0 up with victories over Pete Watson. Karl Clayton just got the better of Scott Gratrick for the Cubes first point of the night. Tim made it two from two when he defeated Gary Chambers 50-44.  Karl and Gary came back strongly against Adam Petty and Scott Gratrick to earn a share of the spoils.

Moorlands and Railway B won 4-2 away at Hykeham B,  Dave Croft and Michael Morrison were the home team winners and Josh Weaver, Nathan Shasby on the black, and John Rice winning his two frames to complete the victory.
